We rarely take a moment to appreciate the overworked managers who have to answer to the ridiculous demands of the higher-ups.
Here, we have the manager of an understaffed pizzeria who was taking on the responsibilities of virtually everyone after both cooks showed up late. He took a moment to collect himself after working on his feet and going non-stop all day. His break was literally for only ten minutes, but the owner took note and prepared his payback.
The next day, the manager could not help but notice that he was scheduled for far fewer hours than what is typical for a work week, including having off for all of Thursday. Not only does this mean he would be making much less that week, but also it's even worse for the workflow of the whole staff without him.
